Director Social Media positions openings

The ACU has an opening for 2 Directors of Social Media positions. 1 Director covering the West Coast to Central and 1 Director for East Coast to Central.

As any other position on the ACU executive and committee members, all work is on a volunteer basis.

The ACU is looking for individual available to dedicate about 1 hour a week for updating the website page, Facebook page and any other Medias available to help promote and grow ultrarunning in Canada.

Beside the basic updates, the ACU is also looking for new ideas to improve communications, increase memberships, promote the National Championships Series, feature Canadian athletes, etc...

Applicant should be well involved with the ultrarunning community, well versed in maintaining news page, Facebook group pages, Twitter, Messenger, etc...

The position is for English language but bilingual English/French would be a great asset.

World 24 Hrs 2019

We are very pleased to announce that the 2019 IAU 24H World Championships was granted to Albi, France. The Championships will take place on 26th – 27th October 2019.
Albi is a city located in southern France on the River Tarn. The historical city is located 85km northeast of Toulouse. Albi was voted as the Top Town of Sport Events in 2012 by the French newspaper l´Equipe.

National Teams Selection will take place on July 1st 2019

Make sure that all your results are posted on the ACU Rankings list.

World 24 Hrs Championships update
An announcement should come out shortly after November 1st
There is a strong possibility that the World 24 Hrs will be in the Fall 2019
2 possible venues are being looked at with positive outcome.

New President of IAU Nadeem Khan

The ACU and all its members congratulates Nadeem Khan for winning the election and becoming the new President of the International Association Ultramarathon (IAU)

For the last year and half, Nadeem has been President by interim of the IAU while serving his term as Vice-President. 

Nadeem involvement as member of the National 24 HrsTeam, Vice-President of the ACU and Assistant Team Manager as well as the IAU Chair of the Medical Commission and Director of communications prepared him well for the challenging work moving forward.

World Championships update

The 2019 50K World Championships has been announced and is scheduled for 1st September 2019, in Brasov, Romania

The 2019 TRAIL World Championships is still on schedule for
June 8th 2019, in Mirandha do Corvo, Portugal

The 2020 100K World Championships has been announced and is scheduled for 12th September 2020, in Winschoten, The Netherlands

The National Team 100K is back

What an outstanding performance by all team members.
Despite the hilly 7.5 km loop, the race started on a cooler note with an overcast weather forecast for most of the morning but early afternoon the heat was back on and the sun was out.

A delegation of 3 men and 3 women representing Canada at this year 100K World Championships in Sveti Martin, Croatia, was ready to compete.

On the Women Team
Finishing in 7th place in the Women Team ranking
Julie Hamulecki 7:58:11 Hrs, 12th place and setting a new Women Open Canadian Record (pending ratification)
Catrin Jones 8:24:34 Hrs, 31st place, first 100K, PB
Neela D'Souza 8:45 Hrs, 43rd place, new Women 40 Canadian Record (pending ratification)

On the Men Team
No Team ranking
Samuel Trudel 7:48:56, 56th place with a new PB
Jason Kinsella 9:41:51, 105th place with a new PB
Jason Loutitt had to stop due to injury.

While competing in the World 100K Championships, most of our athletes were also competing in the World Masters 100K.
Julie Hamulecki came home with the Bronze Medal in the Women 35 age group.

Extended deadline registration Changan Ford Ultra 2018

The LOC has announced that the date for sending your CV has been extended to Sep 15th from the previously announced for Aug 30th.
GIS-Changan Ford Ultra Challenge 2018 50km and 100km
Kiren Sports announces with great pleasure the Changan Ford Ultra Challenge 2018 will take place in October 26th at Zishan Lake Xianning City Hubei Province, China.
It is an IAU bronze labelled race consisting of 50km and 100km distances.
The LOC are welcoming CVs of interest from international athletes and if invited will pay for accommodation and meals for 3 days and provide a travel grant based on where you live.
This is not an IAU international championship but rather an opportunity for international racing and an opportunity to travel to an amazing part of the world and appreciate the hospitality of the LOC.
