CANADIAN 100KM NATIONAL TEAM SELECTION
|
The 2026 IAU 100km World Championships will be held in Ames, Spain on 20 September 2026. Details to come when they are available. |
Last accepted qualifier for the 100km National Team Selection for 2026 will be 17 May 2026
Applications (click here after applications open) will be open from 08 May through 18 May 2026
Selection Information
To be considered for the National Team you must be a Canadian citizen.
Selection takes place 3 to 4 months prior to the current World Championship.
Athletes are expected to have completed the free "True Sport Clean (Untracked)" anti-doping course on the CCES (Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport) website at the time of their application and to submit their certificate of completion with their application.
National Team Selection will be based on the performances registered in the previous 24 months prior to the date of the World Championships. There is no automatic selection based on performance alone.
It is the responsibility of the athlete to apply to the ACU using an application form that will be made available on this webpage when applications are open. It can be helpful for the athlete to check that their performance(s), wherever they may have been run, are posted on the DUV ranking list.
A team of up to 6 men and 6 women will be selected. The team size is at the discretion of the ACU.

Applicants must be members in good standing of the Association of Canadian Ultramarathoners (ACU) at the time of their application and maintain their membership if selected, throughout the timeframe of the World Championships.
Selected Team members agree to abide by the ACU Team Members Code of Conduct and IAU Rules and Regulations. This includes rules related to shoes. Shoes worn in competition must comply with IAU rules, which are in alignment with World Athletics (WA) Rule 5. Sole thickness cannot exceed 40mm for road (and track) ultras. Shoes must be publicly available (on the open market) at the time of competition. Bespoke or 'development' shoes cannot be wore in competition. [Note: Athletes attempting to qualify for national teams are also expected to adhere to this rule, which supports fairness and the primacy of human endeavour over shoe technology.] Link to ACU Shoe Policy.
The ACU is self-funded and athletes will have to cover the majority of the travel costs to the event. Any funding that becomes available will be announced as it materialises. Any travel grant money received to the ACU on behalf of athletes is pooled and divided equally amongst athletes, regardless of the category of the qualifying performance.
