Outstanding performances by Canada at the World Trail Championships in Connemara, Ireland on July 9th 2011.
A very challenging course, a picturesque venue, a determine team a individuals ready for the challenge, this was the set up for a new page in Canada's ultrarunning history.
On the men's side, Jason Loutitt lead the race for the first 40k, lost a few position along the way back up the mountain but managed to stay within reach of the french leaders. In the home strecht Jason regained two positions to capture the silver medal in a time of 6:40:32 hrs.
On the women's side an outstanding team effort by Melanie Bos, Denise McHale, Bernadette Benson and Jackie Muir, taking the team's podium for the first time in Canada's participation in World Championships.
